A wind chart is an important tool that helps the pilot to make a fuel planning correctly before flight.
It shows wind direction and speed accordingly with the desired flight level, also the static air temperature information is provided in a wind chart. Such informations are represented by symbols, as depicted bellow:
Wind speed is showed in knots and wind direction in degrees. A pennant representes a 50 knots wind intensity. Each line represents a 10 knots wind intensity and a half-line represents a 5 knots wind intensity.
Air temperature is showed in degrees Celsius. If no sign is shown beside temperature indication, its value is negative, usually found at higher flight levels. For positive air temperature values, a + sign appears before temperature indication, usually found at lower flight levels.
